The purpose of the World Language Curriculum Framework is to provide Texas LOTE teachers with a TEKS-aligned pathway to develop student language performance and communication in the target language at a specified proficiency level.
The framework contains:
Students will develop Novice Mid – Novice High proficiency in the target language. They will understand culturally authentic texts like infographics and short videos; and they’ll converse in pairs and write short posts about familiar topics using memorized words and phrases.
Students will develop Intermediate Low – Intermediate Mid proficiency in the target language. They will understand connected statements from culturally authentic texts and videos, converse in pairs, and write short pieces on topics about and beyond everyday life using strings of sentences.
Students will develop Novice High – Intermediate Low proficiency in the target language. They will understand culturally authentic, sentence-length texts and videos, converse in pairs, and write short posts about familiar topics using phrases, short statements, and simple sentences.
